Found in Nature

"My work takes me into marginal areas. The areas between water and land, road and forest, the abandoned beaches, parking lots and overgrown public areas; these are my destinations. I have been mesmerized by the miniature world within a three-foot wide strip of weeds on a road in rural Michigan, and by the fresh layers of flotsam covering a beach after a storm. The resources are endless.

From these marginal places, I extract and I organize. Forms to come into view. Themes emerge. Raw materials are mined and later refined into photographs. I have a partner among the weeds and the detritus that live in these margins. They sustain me and challenge me to go further. They are easy to miss. I feel lucky to have seen them."
